Read Review: Danbooru
Danbooru is not merely an imageboard: it is one of the most influential metadata projects in the history of the World Wide Web. The tag taxonomy created by Danbooru's community was so rigorous that major artificial intelligence research labs (including Stability AI) used it as the foundational training dataset for modern image generation.
Danbooru enforces strict sourcing rules: every piece of art must link to the original illustrator's verified account, complete with artist commentary, series tags, and character identification. The community wiki provides rich contextual articles explaining the lore and origins of every tag.
As the intellectual and taxonomic capital of the anime art world, Danbooru commands immense prestige and massive global search traffic.
