要闻速览和职业档案
Quick Facts & Career Dossier
Early Life & Background
Born Nora Louise Kuzma in Steubenville, Ohio, she moved with her mother and siblings to Torrance, California, following her parents’ divorce. Struggling with poverty and instability, she acquired false identification claiming she was born in May 1964 and adopted the stage name Traci Elizabeth Lords, entering adult modeling and film at age 15 in 1984.
Career Genesis & Breakthrough
Between 1984 and May 1986, Lords became the undisputed queen of American video rental stores, starring in over 80 titles including Talk Dirty to Me Part III and Those Young Girls. In May 1986, the FBI discovered that she had performed while underage, sparking an unprecedented industry-wide crisis and the immediate seizure and destruction of her video catalogs.
Studio Contracts & Iconic Co-Stars
During her brief 18-month performing career, Lords appeared in productions for Caballero, Metro, and other prominent distributors of the early home video boom. Her case fundamentally transformed the legal structure of adult entertainment in the United States, directly precipitating the federal 18 U.S.C. Section 2257 record-keeping and mandatory age verification statutes.
Awards, Accolades & Hall of Fame
While her adult catalog was removed from legal commercial distribution, Lords achieved what few thought possible: an authentic, respected, and enduring reinvention as a mainstream actress, writer, and Billboard-topping electronic musician.
Mainstream Crossover & Cultural Impact
Lords trained at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and was cast by auteur John Waters in Cry-Baby (1990) opposite Johnny Depp. She went on to star in Marvel’s Blade (1998), Virtuosity, and prominent TV series like Melrose Place, Married... with Children, and Profiler. In 1995, her electronic album 1000 Fires generated the Billboard #1 dance single "Control". Her 2003 memoir Underneath It All became a New York Times bestseller.
